Bericht & Beantwortung der in der Challenge gestellten Fragen

NeuroHive Home is a proposed next-generation biosignal infrastructure for collecting high-quality, multimodal brain and physiological data outside specialist laboratories. Its purpose is to enable reliable, repeated and self-administered measurements at home, creating the scale and consistency required for future context aware ecologically valid neuroscientific research.

The system combines wearable EEG and fNIRS sensing with motion, pulse, audio and event information. Its central innovation is a modular sensing “Pod” that brings electrical and optical measurements into a defined local geometry. Multiple Pods can be positioned across the head to support different scientific use cases while preserving consistent sensor relationships between participants, sessions and devices. This provides both the original raw signals and traceable geometry-derived measures that can be evaluated against established scientific baselines.

NeuroHive Home Solution is designed as more than a wearable device. It is an end-to-end research infrastructure covering participant guidance, local recording, synchronization, data transfer, scientific processing, governance and fleet operations. A mobile application guides participants through fitting, sensor-quality checks and study protocols. The hub remains the authoritative orchestrator, allowing a session to continue even when internet connectivity is interrupted. Data gaps, timing uncertainty and device status are recorded explicitly rather than concealed.

The associated SWARM data platform is intended to deliver institution-controlled, AI-ready interoperable datasets while preserving scientific traceability. Raw source data remain available, while processed datasets, annotations and derived features can be versioned and linked to their original measurements. The platform can be self hosted and supports open scientific export formats, documented interfaces and external analysis environments, reducing dependence on a single proprietary workflow. Encrypted storage and transfer, pseudonymous participant identifiers, study-scoped access, consent-controlled audio and auditable processing are incorporated into the proposed architecture.

A key objective is deployment at meaningful scale. The program establishes a pathway toward fleets of up to 500 systems, with functions for participant and protocol assignment, device identity, calibration, firmware control, battery monitoring, quality metrics, servicability and repair. The modular design is intended to allow an individual Pod to be replacable without retiring the full cap or acquisition system, improving sustainability and reducing long-term operating cost.

The program combines established technologies with focused integration and verification work. It progresses through requirements definition, engineering prototypes, integrated testing, representative home-use pilots and production scale-up. Performance targets, including signal quality, timing, runtime, storage, washability, self-application and data integrity, will be confirmed through measured evidence before fleet-scale release.

ANT Neuro, eemagine and OptoHive, togeather bring expertise in gel-free EEG, wearable fNIRS, embedded acquisition, synchronization, medical grade software, scientific data infrastructure and scalable manufacturing.

NeuroHive Home will be a world first reusable infrastructure for decentralized biosignals research: one capable of producing larger, more diverse and more reproducible datasets for neuroscience, digital health, and human in the loop AI model development.
