Orbint - Signal Intelligence from Space
Orbint addresses Germany's demand for robust sensing, navigation, and data-link solutions in contested electromagnetic environments, with a system that stems directly from military research at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. Developed within the dtec.bw-funded SeRANIS mission, our technology is designed to meet the operational needs of governmental users. At its core is a space-based RF monitoring system using a sparse satellite array architecture and advanced signal processing, capable of detecting and localizing RF emitters on Earth with high precision, even under jamming or spectrum saturation. Through software-defined radios, onboard AI, and dynamic geolocation algorithms, our system performs real-time spectrum characterization and interference mitigation. This makes it ideal for securing resilient SATCOM data links, detecting hostile emitters, or supporting signal intelligence in the electromagnetic battlespace.
What sets Orbint apart is the ability to rapidly reconfigure and scale for both military and civilian missions, ranging from GNSS interference detection and maritime surveillance to critical infrastructure protection. Orbint is a spin-off from the SeRANIS project at University of the Bundeswehr Munich, funded by dtec.bw. The company is pioneering a new approach to space-based signals intelligence, enabling global monitoring of the electromagnetic spectrum with its systems. Using a distributed satellite network, a wide variety of signals can be detected, identified, and precisely geolocated in near real time. This provides customers with a reliable, up-to-date situational picture as well as actionable intelligence to support decision-making in security-critical and strategic applications.
